In which Indian states are textiles manufactured?


India has several states that manufacture clothes. The bulk of cloth manufacturers and cloth manufacturing businesses in India are located in the following states of India:

 

  • Tamil Nadu: One of India's largest fabric producers is Tamil Nadu. Cities like Tirupur, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem and Karur are home to textile mills and enterprises that manufacture clothing for export.

 

  • Gujarat: Gujarat is one of the major textiles-producing states in India and a significant hub for the textile industry. It boasts a large number of textile mills and power looms and is well-known for producing cotton. Surat is one of the leading cities of textile. Well known for its bulk selling of Wholesale sarees, kurtis and other clothing stuff.

 

  • Maharashtra: The textile industry is a major industry in Maharashtra, especially in Mumbai and the neighboring areas. Major textile centers in the state include Bhiwandi, Ichalkaranji, Solapur, Mumbai, and Bhiwandi. 

 

  • Tamil Nadu: The other major state in India for garment manufacturing is Tamil Nadu. Cities with a reputation for having textile mills and clothing manufacturing facilities include Coimbatore, Tirupur, Salem, Erode, and Karur.

 

  • Uttar Pradesh: The textile industry is heavily represented in Uttar Pradesh. All the cities known for manufacturing clothes are Bhadohi, Agra, Varanasi, and Kanpur.

 

  • West Bengal: The textile industry is well-known in West Bengal, especially in Kolkata. The state is well known for producing silk fabrics, including the internationally recognized Baluchari and Murshidabad silk sarees.

 

  • Rajasthan: Rajasthan has a long history in the textile industry and is well-known for its handloom and traditional block printing fabrics. In the state, Jaipur, Ajmer, and Bhilwara are well-known textile hubs.

 

  • Punjab: The state of Punjab is well-known for its textile factories, especially in Amritsar and Ludhiana. The manufacture of woolen textiles and hosiery is the state's specialty.

 

  • Karnataka: The state of Karnataka boasts a sizable textile industry, particularly in urban centers like Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Hubli. It is well-known for producing ready-made clothing, silk sarees, and cotton textiles.
